Rowland A. Sherrill Religious Studies Outstanding Student Award

Rowland A. Sherrill Religious Studies Outstanding Student Award

Overview

This scholarship is intended to recognize an outstanding student majoring in Religious Studies. This award honors the memory of longtime Chair and Professor of Religious Studies, Rowland A. Sherrill. In addition to the monetary benefit of the award, students should consider how this award could also enhance future applications to graduate school and/or employers, both of which often seek evidence that an applicant can formulate and argue a thesis well. A major benefit of this award is the opportunity to have those skills formally recognized.

Criteria

Eligibility is restricted to students majoring in Religious Studies at IUPUI enrolled during the current academic year. A GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 out of a 4.0 scale is required. The department bases its selection on superior scholastic achievement, faculty recommendations, and special contributions and/or service (e.g., leadership in the Religious Studies Student Association) to the Religious Studies Department.

Apply

There is no student application to fill out. Faculty nominate and select students for this award. Nominated students will receive an email notification requesting additional information is completed utilizing the One.IU scholarship management system.
