Scholarships and Awards

Rewarding excellence in Political Science study, programs, and tracks

The Political Science Department offers several scholarships and awards to students who have excelled in our program. Some of these awards recognize outstanding academic achievement and performance, while others support students engaging in research related travel and students demonstrating financial need. These are given annually each spring. Details and application instructions appear below.

Academic Achievement Award for Political Science

This award is given by the IUPUI School of Liberal Arts Political Science Department to honor one of its graduating seniors.

P.E. MacAllister Political Science Scholarship

This scholarship was created by the IUPUI School of Liberal Arts Political Science Department for undergraduate students who are majoring in political science and have demonstrated financial need.

Robert V. Kirch Scholarship

This scholarship, named after the founding chairman of the Political Science Department, is awarded annually to outstanding political science juniors to help with their academic costs during their senior year.

James E. Sawyers Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created by the IUPUI School of Liberal Arts Political Science Department for undergraduate students who are majoring in political science, are at least sophomores, are first generation college students, and have demonstrated financial need.

Winslow Prize in Political Theory

This scholarship was created by the IUPUI School of Liberal Arts Political Science Department for undergraduate students that submit the best essay or paper written on the topic of political theory.

Clara Margaret Powell Undergraduate Research Fund

This award is to support undergraduate IUPUI Political Science majors to attend conferences and/or complete undergraduate research projects.

Survey Research Award

This scholarship will be used to support annual award(s) for any undergraduate or graduate Liberal Arts student who is conducting research that entails the administration of a survey and analysis of the results.
