My favorite part about coming to the writing center is the free space to be myself. After sessions at the writing center, I feel more confident about my writing… and myself. I feel that in most sessions, as a writer, I get to focus on setting goals. I like that consultants at the writing center help me make an agenda in sessions. This helps me feel more comfortable and gives me a grasp on what I am writing. Plus, I get to talk about the “stuff” that has been stuck in my head for who knows how long.

As a fellow writer, consultant, friend, and writing center frequent flyer, I encourage you to think about your goals before you come into your session. What do you hope to accomplish? What do you want to focus on? How do you want to spend those 45 minutes? You can also come to the session and share what you are struggling with; we are here for that too.

By thinking about your goals before you come to your appointment, this can ease the stress you may be facing as well as give you something to look forward to before your appointment. I don’t know about you, but each time I have a session, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted! So, what if you took a jump start on that and gave yourself some extra peace of mind before you come in?

I hope to see you in the UWC before the semester ends and don’t forget to schedule your appointments early!
