Going Abroad

Experiences abroad give you the opportunity to interact with people of different cultural backgrounds and enhance your employment opportunities. A variety of study and immersion abroad programs are available for all languages taught in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at IUPUI. Study abroad programs range from week-long to year-long programs and are administered by the Department of World Languages and Cultures.

Learning Abroad in Arabic Studies

Study Abroad Programs provide students with the needed exposure and immersion to the Arabic language and culture. Study abroad is an important requirement for students doing an Individualized Major in the language. It helps them in completing advanced courses in the language, and in working on their Capstone research. Many students have joined the Amman University in Jordan, the American University Arabic Program in Cairo, Egypt, and in Morocco for completing advanced courses in the language. With the new minor in Arabic Culture & Public Health, collaboration with the Hassan 1st University in Morocco is expected for internship opportunity.

Students joining a Study Abroad Program can apply and obtain financial help through some scholarships intended for studying abroad.

For all other available programs that have been approved by the university check out opportunities with IUPUI’s Office of International Affairs and the IU Office of Overseas Study.
