The IUPUI chapter of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) has elected its executive board for the 2023-’24 academic year. Junior Marlee Hathaway will serve as president; sophomore Atiya Smith will serve as vice president; and senior Alfonso Trujillo will serve as social media coordinator.

This year, PRSSA plans to host a monthly “Pizza and Conversation with a PR Professional” event. Earlier this month, Casey Harrison, president and CEO of Polished Strategic Communications, joined the group. (Harrison also serves as Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Indy Chamber. She is a prior winner of the Alumni of the Year Award from the IUPUI Department of Communication Studies.)
“In addition to continuing our monthly networking events, I look forward to organizing PR panels featuring prominent local industry leaders,” Hathaway, the group’s president, said. “Members can expect PRSSA to continue offering opportunities for students to establish valuable connections with PR professionals and foster peer networking within a supportive environment.”
All students, regardless of major, are welcome to join PRSSA.
“PRSSA has been transformative for my confidence, network, and public relations experience,” Hathaway said. “I encourage any student with even a slight interest in public relations to spend an hour at one of our events and witness the impact firsthand.”
