About Professor Thomas Mason

Profesmason's headshot imagesor Thomas Mason brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the classroom. As a part-time lecturer in the Department of History, Mason’s passion for historical inquiry is contagious. His impressive background includes serving as Acting Editor and Associate Editor for The Papers of James Madison at the University of Virginia, where he played a vital tole in producing volumes 14 through 16 of the Congressional Series and assisted with the Presidential Series. 

Professor Mason’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree with Highest Honors in History from Kenyon College in 1966. He continued his scholarly pursuits at the University of Virginia, earning his Master of Arts in 1970 and completing his PhD in 1975. With decades of research and teaching under his belt, Professor Mason brings a depth of knowledge and a nuanced understanding of historical narratives to the classroom.
