9th Intercultural Rhetoric and Discourse Conference (2023)

Intercultural rhetoric (IR) and discourse analysis (DA) are cross-disciplinary approaches to the study of language in use that have been employed successfully across the humanities and social sciences to show how context, genres, and cultures (large and small) shape communication. For this year’s 2023 conference, we are bringing together researchers and professionals working with IR and/or DA in various areas and settings so that we may benefit from the exchange of findings and ideas.

  • For lunch on Friday, October 6th, we recommend visiting the Campus Center for a variety of food options. There you will find a convenience market, sandwiches, fast-food Chinese, pizza, tacos and burritos, salads, smoothies and juices, and coffee. Find out more about food options at the Campus Center at: https://studentaffairs.iupui.edu/campus-center/restaurants-services/index.html
  • If you’re looking for restaurant recommendations around Indianapolis, check out Visit Indy’s Food Guide (https://www.visitindy.com/restaurants/). Within the Food Guide, you can use the dropdown menu on the left-hand side to narrow your search by region (we recommend Downtown, Mass Ave, and Fountain Square) and category (Breakfast & Brunch, Casual Dining, Coffee Shops, and more). Indy is a food-lover’s paradise, so take advantage of what’s out there in the free time you have!
  • IUPUI students, faculty, and staff are asked to use their parking permits at nearby garages and lots when attending the 9th Intercultural Rhetoric and Discourse Conference. Please refer to the following website for more information on parking at IUPUI: https://parking.iupui.edu/parking/permits/index.html.
