Emerging Black Scholars Series

Started in 2020, the Emerging Black Scholars Series is a speaker and performance series to highlight the emerging scholarship and creative activity of IUPUI graduate students affiliated with the Center for Africana Studies and Culture or those graduate students doing community-engage research focused on the African Diaspora. The series showcases the breadth and nuance of the engaged research being conducted by Africana graduate students and provide them a forum to engage with scholars, local leaders, and community members.

With the rise of COVID, CASC shifted the series to an online format and found that hosting webinars opened the series to a wider audience. For instance, international webinars were done with discussants from African and the Caribbean.

This series is free and open to the public. Sign up to stay connected with the Center and to know when the next scholar will present.
