Museum Studies Club

The Museum Studies Club is a student organization providing opportunities for students in both the graduate and undergraduate programs to socialize, offer support, and attend special events as a group! Events in recent years have included lectures by museum professionals at the IMA; a road trip to Chicago to see the King Tut exhibit; roundtable discussions on how to prepare for internship projects; and of course pitch-in parties!

Upcoming Events:
Saturday, November 12, 2011: Field trip to the Miller House, please RSVP by Nov 5th. This event is FREE (besides chipping in for gas), but there are only 14 spots available. We will be carpooling down to Columbus, Indiana to take a tour of the fabulously designed and decorated Miller House. We will leave Indianapolis at 8:00am. I know it’s early, but it’s totally worth it! One of IUPUI’s Museum Studies graduates, Bonnie Cate Miller, will be our gracious guide. She will give us the history of the house, as well as information on her position as the Miller House Collections Manager. If there is enough interest, we can head out for brunch after the tour and should be back to Indianapolis no later than 1:00pm.

Friday, October 7, 2011: The next monthly meeting of the Museum Studies Club will take place on Friday, October 7 at 5:30pm at the Indianapolis Art Center (820 E. 67th Street). Tiffany Hatfield, Executive Director of the Association of Indiana Museums, will be presenting. A Q&A will follow. Please join us!

Friday Octover 21, 2011: Road trip to Chicago to see the "Out in Chicago" exhibit, meet with the curators, and have a "behind the scenes" tour of Chicago History Museum. We’ll carpool up and back on Friday the 21st.
