Medical Humanities and Health Studies Major

The B.A. and B.S. in Medical Humanities and Health Studies (MHHS) are unique, being among the first comprehensive MHHS degrees offered to undergraduates nationwide. The major entails successful completion of a minimum of 120 credit hours: 90 credit hours will satisfy the School of Liberal Arts general education requirements, and 30 credit hours will satisfy the major concentration.

B.S. Requirement & Electives (12 credits):

  • Required Statistics Course: 200-level or higher
  • Take three electives, no Tracks

Accelerated Second Degree

The Liberal Arts baccalaureate competencies are waived for undergraduate students whose first major is outside the School of Liberal Arts and whose second major is a Bachelor of Arts degree from the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. For a Dual Degree, you only need to complete the courses in their major of choice in Liberal Arts.

Transfer Students

Transfer students should meet with both the Academic Advisor in the Liberal Arts Student Affairs Office and the MHHS Program Faculty Mentor.
