Interested in Minoring in Philosophy?

It’s easy! Just do this:

Step 1

Take two introductory philosophy courses (6 credits) from the following:

  • P110, Intro. to Philosophy
  • P120, Ethics
  • P162, Logic (may be replaced by P265, Elementary Symbolic Logic)

Step 2

Add three more philosophy courses (9 credits), at least two of them (6 credits) should be at the 300 level or above.

Step 3

Once you received a grade for your five philosophy courses, notify the philosophy undergraduate mentor, Professor Samuel Kahn. This is essential. Without it you will not receive your minor. Please include your student ID in your email.

That's it.

There’s no set order in which you must take the courses, However, it’s highly recommended that you take the 100-level courses first. Also, be sure that you earn a minimum grade of C (2.0) in each philosophy course.

If you have any questions about the Philosophy Minor, or want to discuss either what courses you should take or the options for completing an honors program, please contact Professor Kahn.

A list of courses that are currently being offered is found here.
