Scholastic Writing Awards

The Hoosier Writing Project is proud to sponsor The Central and Southern Indiana Region of the Scholastic Writing Awards. We invite submissions of writing in many genres from students in grades 7-12. Submissions are accepted between September and December each year. Works are judged by professional writers, editors, teachers, and supporters of writing each January. Winners are recognized at a regional ceremony.

In 2022, we received 507 entries and awarded 50 Gold Keys, 65 Silver Keys, and 86 Honorable Mentions. The Gold Key works were forwarded to the national level for further judging; students in our region earned 4 Gold Medals and 4 Silver Medals.

Gold Kay Scholastic Writing Annual Anthology

Each year, we publish an anthology of Gold Key writing from our region. Gold Key winners receive a copy. You may view the 2022 Anthology online.

If you would like to purchase a copy of the 2022 Anthology for your family, or your school library, or your classroom, contact Steve Fox, sfox@iupui.edu. You can donate to the Hoosier Writing Project and help pay for these anthologies.

The 2022 awards ceremony was held Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Northview Middle School. A video of the event will be posted shortly.
