Vidhura Tennekoon joined the Department of Economics in 2014. He currently teaches or has taught at IUPUI the advanced PhD course- Microeconometrics (E 673); the Topics In Applied Microeconomics sequence (E 581 and E 582) at the masters level; and Money and Banking (E 305), the upper level undergraduate course. His primary research focus has been on microeconometric methods related to applied health economic problems, measurement error in microeconomic data in particular. His publications include Behold, Measuring Bias in Self-Reported Data (2011), A Virgin is with HIV! (2014), Systematically Misclassified Binary Dependent Variables (2016) and Counting Unreported Abortions (2017). His current research interests expand to demography, development economics and inter-disciplinary research.
Vidhura earned his BSc degree in Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and an MBA from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka where he is originally from. He earned an MSc degree in Economics and Econometrics with Distinction from the University of Nottingham, UK. During 2008 to 2012, he attended Washington State University and received a PhD in economics.
Before joining IUPUI, Vidhura worked at the Departments of Economics of the University of Oklahoma and Eastern Washington University where he taught several undergraduate and graduate economics courses. He also has professional experience as a central banker.
