  • Hello R110 Students! Here are some tips to help you get started on your third speech, the Informative II Speech, which is called the explanation speech. The Explanation Speech is a chance for you to teach your class about a concept. This should be done in a way kind of like a professor introduces a new topic, but should not be done in the way a How To Speech is. The time requirement for this speech is 5-7 minutes and four sources are required for this speech. A reminder that you should cite your sources in your outline parenthetically and verbally and also have a works cited page in MLA format. When you are choosing a topic make sure you do one you are familiar with or have done research on to familiarize yourself. Also, make sure you are choosing credible sources that are relevant to your speech and audience. Don’t forget to come get help if you are struggling or even if you’re not! We are open Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm.
