This award is given to the best short story written by any student who has been enrolled in a creative writing course in the last 18 months and who is currently an undergraduate student at IUPUI. This award is made possible by a gift from the late Mary Louise Rea, Professor Emerita of English.
Announcements are sent to all students enrolled in W103, W203, W206, W301, W303, W401, W403 and W411 at IUPUI within the last eighteen months. Mailing labels are obtained from the Registrar’s office. Judge is paid a small stipend, reviews the manuscripts, which are submitted to the judge by the Director of Campus Writing without identification.
Students may submit up to two stories; each entry will be judged separately. Works submitted for the Rea Short Story Award should not derive from the author’s real-world experiences and may not also be submitted for the Creative Nonfiction awards.
Do not put your name on any submitted manuscript.
