William M. Plater General Studies International Scholarship

Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties Emeritus William M. Plater is a strong advocate for IUPUI’s nontraditional students. This scholarship was created in his honor. This scholarship will be given to a student enrolled in the General Studies Degree Program within the school of Liberal Arts who have an interest in adding an international educational experience to their portfolio while pursuing their undergraduate degree. Should no applications for international experience be submitted by the posted deadline, the committee may select a qualified candidate requesting domestic experience outside Indiana.


The selection criteria include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Student must have financial need with a FAFSA on file at IUPUI
  • Student should be seeking their first bachelor degree; specifically the Bachelor of General Studies
  • Desire to add international educational experience to their portfolio during undergraduate student years
  • Clearly defined career goals and objectives
  • Specify the educational requirements to attain the above goals and objectives
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Student must submit an application for the scholarship
