Luis Alberto Ambroggio Study Abroad Travel Award
Overview
Provides support to undergraduate students in the Latino Studies Program. The award honors poet, scholar, and philanthropist Luis Alberto Ambroggio. Luis Alberto Ambroggio is an internationally known Hispanic-American poet, born in Cordoba, Argentina. He is the author of twenty collections of poetry, essays, and short stories published in Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain, and the United States. His poetry has been translated into several languages and has been selected for the Archives of Hispanic Literature of the Library of Congress. Ambroggio has received numerous awards and recognitions such as the Fulbright-Hays Award, Premio Simon Bolfvar, Trilce Medal from Institute Vallejiano, Order of the Discoverers, the Abraham Lincoln Medal and the Excellence Award from the Washington D.C. Region for his literary and philanthropic contributions.
Selection Criteria
The Latino Studies Program will offer three (3) Luis Alberto Ambroggio Study Abroad Travel Awards to IUPUI undergraduate students in the Latino Studies Program.
Students should have a minimum GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to underrepresented students. Selection will be based on applicant's academic record, essay on the reasons the Latino Studies Program will positively impact his/ her academic and professional goals, letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
