CVR’s Barrier-Busting Scholarship
Overview
CVR is a full-service agency in the heart of Indiana that delivers the ideas that move people to action, sell product, and change perceptions. With over a century of experience, CVR is charged with developing the advertising, logos, marketing, and communications that do more than generate business, they create an emotional connection that truly builds a brand. The CVR Diversity in Advertising Scholarship is made possible by the CVR Diversity in Advertising Fund, a donor-advised fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, established to help create equitable opportunity for students of color pursuing higher education in advertising, communications, and public relations. CVR is committed to Building Brands That Matter by partnering with clients making a difference in the lives of Hoosiers. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and renewed calls for social and racial justice, CVR partnered with CICF – the community foundation serving Marion and Hamilton Counties – in 2020 to shape and advise their philanthropy with a focus on racial equity in the advertising field.
Selection Criteria
Eligible recipient must be in good academic standing, enrolled full-time as a sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a major in communication studies, journalism, applied theater, television, and film studies, or public relations in the School of Liberal Arts or graphic design in other schools on the IUPUI campus. Special consideration given to underrepresented populations, including but not limited to financially challenged students as determined by University financial need criteria, and/or students with diverse cultural experiences. Preference for students who identify as Black, Indigenous and people of color ("BIPOC") or other historically marginalized populations. Multiple recipients may be selected.
Applicant will submit an essay focusing, How will this opportunity will assist you in achieving your career and/or personal goals (maximum 500 words).
