Direct Admission to Liberal Arts

Take advantage of every School of Liberal Arts opportunity from Day 1

If you’re directly admitted to the School of Liberal Arts, it means you’re an official School of Liberal Arts student beginning on your first day at IUPUI.

Direct admits can:

  • Apply for more than 110 scholarships available only to School of Liberal Arts students
  • Participate in the school’s honors program starting their first semester (learn about the honors program in our portal for current students)

Eligibility for direct admission

Incoming freshmen

You’ll be eligible for direct admission if:

  • You were admitted to IUPUI.
  • You indicated a major in the School of Liberal Arts on your application for admission.
  • Your high school grade point average is at least 3.0.
  • You scored at least 23 on the ACT (composite score), at least 1000 on the old SAT (total of the critical reading and math scores, taken before March 2016), or at least 1080 on the new SAT (total of the evidence-based reading/writing and math scores, taken March 2016 or later).

Transfer students

See the criteria for direct admission in our information for transfer students.

What happens if you don’t qualify for direct admission?

You’ll begin your IUPUI academic career like most new students do: in University College. You can start taking classes in your intended major, and you’ll become an official School of Liberal Arts student when you meet the school’s admission requirements.
