Dr. E. Jane Luzar is the Founding Dean of the IUPUI Honors College and Professor of Environmental Economics and Policy at IUPUI. She joined IUPUI from the University of Florida in 2009, where she served as Associate Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences for 10 years. While at Florida, she was an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow as well as a Provost Fellow. She was recognized at the University of Florida by the Division of Student Affairs for outstanding service to students. Dr. Luzar was employed at Louisiana State University (LSU) as a Professor of Natural Resource Economics for 12 years prior to her employment at Florida. While at LSU she was recognized at the departmental, university, and national level for excellence in teaching. Her research interests include the economics of sustainability, environmental policy in developing nations, and the role of incentives in environmental management. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Oregon, a Masters degree in Natural Resource Economics from the University of Kentucky, and a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics from Virginia Tech. Dean Luzar is a former Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Liberia West Africa for three years.
