Objectives

Who is this degree program for?

• Current Spanish teachers K-12;
• Students graduating with a degree in Spanish (or a related field) who want to obtain a masters degree in Spanish;
• Current and future community college and adjunct university Spanish faculty;
• Students planning to continue their education to earn an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Spanish who desire graduate courses emphasizing pedagogical practice.

This international course of study has been designed specifically for teachers of Spanish, providing graduate level course work in the Spanish language, Hispanic linguistics, Hispanic literature, art and culture, and applied linguistics and teaching methodology. By enabling participants to improve their language and their teaching skills as well as their knowledge about Spanish and Hispanic cultures, the program allows for professional development and career advancement. Its graduates will contribute to better teaching of Spanish in Indiana schools, fostering deeper cultural awareness in their students along with more proficient language skills.
