Scholarship Details

Zora Neal Hurston-Mari Evans Scholarship

Created in honor of Zora Neale Hurston and Mari Evans, these scholarships seek to encourage the study of subjects that transcend gender, race, age, culture and economic status.


Students who are seeking baccalaureate degrees in the creative arts, including composing and music performance, liberal arts, and social sciences are encouraged to apply.

Students must be in good academic standing (a 3.0 GPA or higher is recommended) and demonstrate financial need.

Full-time enrollment is necessary to receive the full scholarship.

Students write an essay (500 words) which reflects the issues articulated in the works of these two prominent American literary figures and how you will benefit from this scholarship.
