Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties Emeritus William M. Plater is a strong advocate for IUPUI’s nontraditional students. This scholarship was created in his honor.
This scholarship will be given to a student enrolled in the General Studies Degree Program within the school of Liberal Arts who have an interest in adding an international educational experience to their portfolio while pursuing their undergraduate degree.
Should no applications for international experience be submitted by the posted deadline, the committee may select a qualified candidate requesting domestic experience outside Indiana.
This scholarship is to support undergraduate or post-baccalaureate scholarships students to learn through their engagement with the community regardless of the physical location of the activity.
Recipients will devote a reasonable amount of time to a project, as determined by and under the supervision of a faculty member, consistent with the student’s learning objectives and the goals of a specific project that demonstrates learning through community engagement.
