Consider This
Consider This is a TV program produced by the Department that airs on local cable and community access channels throughout Indiana, and in northern Kentucky. Two shows are taped every four weeks, the focus being on intellectual and global affairs; recent programs have looked at issues as varied as the situation in Yemen, Marxian ethics, British elections, the Afghan-Pakistani neo-Taliban, French culture, Haitian politics, globalization in Africa, American healthcare, and communitarianism.
Taking the form of a panel discussion, Consider This is produced by Jasper Sumner, moderated by professional broadcaster Sam Graves, features faculty members Tom Mustillo, Scott Pegg, Michael Snodgrass, Jasper Sumner, Charles WInslow and John McCormick as regular panelists, and centers on guests with special interests in the topic of the week.
Directed by IUPUI staff member Michael Maitzen, the crew on the show is comprised entirely of IUPUI students working out of the IUPUI Communications Technology Laboratory.
Each show is 28 minutes in length.
Information for guests:
- How to find us. Drive onto campus on Michigan Street, heading west. At the second set of traffic lights, turn left onto University Boulevard. (The five-storey brick and concrete building on your left is Cavanaugh Hall.) Take the first turning on the right onto Vermont Street, and park in the Vermont Street garage to your right. Walk back to Cavanaugh, and take the elevator to the 4th Floor. Upon exiting, turn right and right again. Walk down the hall and you will find the Computer Technology Lab on your right - that’s where we are.
- Tips for appearing on TV. Tapings for the show are relaxed and informal, but it’s also useful to know how best to prepare to make the best of the experience. For advice, visit "TV Talent Tips".
