The museum studies program does not offer direct financial support for undergraduates, but students in the undergraduate certificate program are encouraged to seek support through financial aid (http://www.iupui.edu/~finaid/) and scholarships (http://www.iupui.edu/~scentral/.)
Financial support for Museum Studies graduate students is limited, but we make every effort to support students through a combination of tuition scholarships, university fellowships, paid internships, graduate assistantships, and hourly employment. Students applying by February 1 are eligible to be nominated by the MSTD faculty for university fellowships. Other merit-based funding, such as tuition scholarships and paid internships, are allocated by faculty based upon student rankings and upon the available resources. Rankings for incoming students are based on their application materials and rankings for continuing students are based on their record in the program. No special application is needed for these merit-based sources of support.
For need-based funding, such as student loans or work study, applicants should complete a FAFSA form available through the financial aid office. Deadlines and instructions may be found on the IUPUI Financial Aid web site.
Students are also encouraged to seek scholarships from other sources. See the IUPUI Office of Student Scholarships for links to campus scholarships or funding to participate in study abroad experiences. The Graduate Student Organization offers Educational Enhancement Grants for funds to attend professional meetings or. Students are also encouraged to apply for scholarships offered by professional organizations to attend museum conferences.
Tuition varies depending on whether you are a resident of the state of Indiana. To know if you qualify for in-state and out-of-state tuition, please see the registrar's site for residency rules and FAQs on their website: http://registrar.iupui.edu/resrules.html .
International students are directed to the Office of International Affairs for funding information.
The Museum Studies faculty try to connect all students with paid employment in area museums, either work-study funded or regular employment, by sharing notices about openings and posting links to job resources on the web site. We encourage all students looking for part-time work to check local museum web sites for job openings and talk with your fellow students, many of whom are working at area museums, about opportunities.
