The Master of Arts in Public Relations program is designed to prepare students for professional public relations positions in a wide variety of industries. The degree is ideal for those with experience in the field who are ready to advance their careers and for professionals from allied disciplines who wish to transition to public relations or further enhance their knowledge and skills. Graduating seniors are invited to apply as well.

This is a professional graduate program with coursework offered at night on IUPUI’s downtown Indianapolis campus in modern, state-of-the-art facilities. Students participate in real-world learning experiences, such as public relations campaigns and crisis communication plans for local organizations.

The degree requires 30 credit hours and can be completed in two or three years. No thesis is required.

Graduates are prepared for management positions in public relations firms, corporations, government agencies, nonprofits, associations, and health and life sciences organizations.

Students may specialize in three different areas:

  • General Public Relations Management
  • Public Relations in Health Care and Life Sciences
  • Sports Public Relations Management
