The Department of Journalism and Public Relations at IUPUI has its roots in the century-old Indiana University School of Journalism. Today, we combine that journalistic heritage with contemporary public relations and a dynamic urban environment filled with real-world teachers, experiences, jobs and internships.
With more than a million people and a strong economy, greater Indianapolis is ripe with media and PR organizations and professionals. The city is especially strong in sports and health, two areas where IUPUI journalism and PR graduate and undergraduate students may choose to focus their learning.
At IUPUI, journalism and PR students take courses with expert faculty, collaborate on projects outside the classroom and engage with the community. Students also have access to guest speakers from media organizations, sports teams and governing bodies, nonprofit organizations, public relations and advertising agencies, local and state government, entrepreneurial businesses and major corporations. These connections help students learn about career opportunities in their area of interest.
Practical communication skills. A major university filled with opportunities to learn about the world. All in the heart of a vibrant downtown.
