Undergraduate Study in Liberal Arts

Liberal Arts students are as diverse as the city around them. Coming from many walks of life and a wide range of age groups and ethnic cultures, each has different personal, academic and professional goals. The School and campus support this diversity by providing cultural, leadership, social, and educational programs.
At the undergraduate level, the School of Liberal Arts awards bachelor’s and associate’s degrees, certificates, and a broad range of minors. All students earn Indiana University degrees. In addition to 10-14 major courses, students in the School of Liberal Arts complete a well-rounded program intended to prepare them for many career fields. In the core courses completed by all Liberal Arts majors, students learn to comprehend and express ideas, carefully and logically analyze information from multiple perspectives, integrate and apply knowledge from their studies to their lives, understand their culture and that of others, and make informed and principled choices. Liberal Arts major requirements position students to fulfill IUPUI’s RISE Challenge in which they are asked to engage in Research, International or overseas study, Service Learning and Experiential Learning through professional internships.
