Sponsored Activities and Awards

Alumni and donors play an extraordinary role in strengthening our department and rewarding the excellence of our students and faculty. Current sponsored activities and awards include:

Peter Bassett Barlow Prize—Awarded for the best paper submitted by a student enrolled in the English MA Program.
Rufus Reiberg Fund—Sponsors the creative writing speakers series.
Rebecca E. Pitts Creative Writing Award—Rewards excellence among IUPUI undergraduate creative writing students.
Mary Louise Rea Short Story Award—Rewards excellence for short story writing among IUPUI undergraduate creative writing students.
Sarah Jamison Keller Scholarship Fund—Provides tuition for seniors majoring in English who demonstrate their ability to write scholarly analysis of an aspect of English language or literature.
Barbara E. Zimmer Award for Associate Faculty—Provides travel expenses for writing program associate faculty members to attend conferences or workshops.
Sharon J. Hamilton Lectureship in Writing—Honors the dedication and hard work of the lecturers in the Writing Program.
Marianne Hedges Poetry Prize—Rewards excellence in poetry among IUPUI undergraduate women.
genesis—A creative writing project written and edited by students.
