
Concentration in Creative Writing
Please note that the first set of requirements below will apply to all new majors. Students who started under the old system may choose which set of requirements to follow. Choose two:
Four courses in at least two genres, including at least one at the 400 level. One course may be repeated for credit; 400-level courses preferred.
Choose from the following courses:
Literature (9 cr). Three courses at the 200-level or higher; at least one of which must be 300-400 level.
Language, Pedagogy, and Editing (3 cr). Choose from:

ENG E450 Capstone Seminar
The minor in creative writing will be of particular interest to students who are contemplating careers in writing or the teaching of writing. It is designed to serve, in addition, the needs of those who believe that one good way to study literature is to learn to produce it. Students choose 15 credit hours from the courses listed under "Creative Writing" in this bulletin and/or the Schedule of Classes.
One e-credit course each, at the 200 level or above, in linguistics (including W310 Language and Study of Writing), literature, and writing (excluding W396 Writing Fellows Training Seminar, E398 Internship in English, and creative writing courses).
At least 3 credits must be at the 400 level. Choose from the following courses, only one of which may be repeated for credit:
One additional 200-400 level literature course and one additional 200 - 400 level writing course (excluding creative writing), linguistics, or film course, or E398 Internship in English.
