Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate sections of J426/V550 GIS for Criminal Justice and Public Safety course. 12.14.07-Present: Adjunct Assistant Professor, Loma Linda University, School of Public Health Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. Responsibilities: Develop and teach courses for practioners as well as academic audiences that address methods for using geospatial technologies to address public health issues associated with disaster management. 2005: Adjunct Instructor, Department of Geography, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Responsibilities: Develop and teach introductory GIS and cartography courses as part of the Masters in Science in Geographic Information Science. 10.1.04-Present: Director, Geospatial Technologies Education – The Polis Center at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Responsibilities: Direct all programs and projects associated with the Polis Center Professional Education Program. This includes development and management of projects with a wide range of local, state, federal, and international organizations. It also includes teaching and curriculum development responsibilities for multiple technically and conceptually oriented courses. Approximately 40% of this position is also devoted to research and analysis using geospatial technologies for a variety of projects. 10.1.01-10.1.04: Quality Assurance Manager – The Polis Center at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Responsibilities: Developed and maintained standards of product quality; supported project initiatives through the design, programming, development, testing, and implementation of complex GIS applications, models, and databases; managed intern staff and intern staff development; managed a variety of projects that required deliverables within a short time frame, and supported instruction and material development for GIS and cartography related training seminars, workshops and demonstrations. Also created and managed the Center’s GIS/MIS professional training program that offered more than 60 professional training courses and included multiple state, federal, and local agencies among its clientele. 7.1.90-10.1.01: Staff Cartographer / Training Coordinator – The Polis Center at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Responsibilities: Primary responsibility was the editing and design of cartographic and geographic information systems products for a variety of clients. Secondary responsibilities include developing training materials and teaching workshops in AutoCAD, Introduction to Atlas GIS, Intermediate Atlas GIS, DataVision and ArcView. Served as coordinator of education activities. Acquired extensive experience in client interaction techniques while setting up and managing various projects. Experience obtained in numerous software packages including Microsoft Windows, Atlas GIS, Idrisi, AutoCAD, Harvard Graphics, CorelDraw, Freelance Graphics, MacDraw, MacPaint, Paradox, Quattro Pro, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project and WordPerfect. Experience also acquired in UNIX, DOS, and Windows NT operating systems. 1996: Instructor - School of Public and Environmental Affairs Graduate Planning Program Responsibilities: Developed curriculum and co-taught one semester of ‘Applications of GIS’, a master’s level course that empowered students with the skills to use geographic information systems applications for a variety of planning applications. 1995 & 2003: Instructor - Indiana University at Indianapolis Department of Geography Responsibilities: Taught five semesters of Physical Geography laboratory courses and one semester of a Computer Cartography lab course. Taught Cartography and Graphics undergraduate/graduate course which were a component of the GIS Master Degree Program 1990: Manager, Office of Cartographic Information Services – Indiana University School of Liberal Arts Responsibilities: Developed a self-supporting unit within the School of Liberal Arts that produced a variety of fee-based products cartographic products for faculty within the university as well as local businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and local government. 1989-90: Staff Cartographer - Indiana University at Indianapolis Department of Geography Responsibilities: Produced manually designed cartographic products for geography faculty.
