Academic Interests

Providing quality Geography education for Indiana's K+ educators and students. Enjoy the topics of soils, water, agriculture, literature, human-environment interaction, and geospatial technologies - as applied to a K-12 classroom.

Teaching

Planned, coordinated, presented over 200 workshops and 35 institutes focusing on Geography Education and Geographic Literacy.

Awards

Indiana Citizenship in Education Award, Indiana Council for the Social Studies, 1996; Outstanding Contributions Toward Geography Education Award, National Council for Geographic Education, 2009; Publications and Products Committee, National Council for Geographic Education, 2012-2014.

Publication of the Indiana in Maps: Geographic Perspectives of the Hoosier State (an Indiana atlas) and accompanying Curriculum Guide. Contributor to Climate Change & Variation, Volumes I and II - teaching and resources for climate change education grades 4 - 16. Contributor to Food and Famine in the 21st Century, Volumes I and II - teaching and resources for classroom applications about hunger, poverty, food, and famine in the K+ classroom. Creation of the Giant Traveling Map of Indiana (and accompanying Curriculum Guide & Resource Trunk), a 15' x 21' resource to aid in the teaching and understanding about Geography and Indiana.

Service

Indiana schools (P-16) state-wide, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Boy Scouts of America Crossroads of America Council, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church and School.
