Interim Graduate Tuition Scholarship Policy
Tuition scholarships are available to graduate students (resident and non-resident) for courses taken during a semester, subject to the following conditions:
- Eligible students normally include graduate students in School of Liberal Arts programs receiving department, school or campus stipends (i.e., assistantships, fellowships, internships, or hourly work amounting to at least 10 hours per week), or who are teaching for the School of Liberal Arts during a given semester. Special individual cases may be proposed to the dean by the department or program.
- Tuition Scholarships are available only for graduate classes and undergraduate classes that count for credit toward a graduate degree in the student’s program.
- Tuition Scholarships for SLA graduate students who are enrolled in graduate courses outside the School of Liberal Arts are limited to six (6) credit hours per semester for those courses.
- Eligible graduate students in the School of Liberal Arts are limited to tuition scholarships covering no more than nine (9) credit hours per semester including correspondence courses.
- Tuition Scholarships to accompany the teaching of Liberal Arts courses by graduate students in programs at Indiana University outside the School of Liberal Arts may be granted for up to 3 credit hours per course taught in the semester they are teaching. The scholarship must be negotiated as part of the normal hiring process.
- No tuition scholarships will be paid to other schools participating in joint degree programs unless those schools reciprocate by also offering tuition scholarships.
- Tuition scholarships paid for courses taken in other schools will be limited to the SLA credit hour rate.
