Since mediated communication is a combination of both skills, employers are very interested in people who can communicate or design messages for specific audiences by using a combination of face-to-face and mediated communication strategies. Professionals in business, sales, hotel/restaurant/travel, psychology, sociology, health care, general studies, and many others will benefit significantly from this stand-alone certificate.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The courses are taught completely online and can be taken from any computer anywhere that supports Oncourse, Indiana University’s online environment.

To be eligible for admission to this certificate program, students must secure regular admission to the university as a degree-seeking student. An online application as well as more information about admission requirements can be found at http://www.enroll.iupui.edu/. In addition to regular admission requirements, students must also satisfy the following:

  • Provide pre-requisite evidence of an introductory speech course (such as Comm. R110) or interpersonal communication course (such as Comm. C180).
  • Provide evidence of a GPA of 2.0 or above for students currently enrolled at IUPUI , any of the IU system schools, or other US institutions.
  • International students should provide evidence of English proficiency, pre-requisite coursework and grade status as stated above.
  • Once you are admitted to the University, click on the Online Certificate tab to the left, and scroll down until you see the link for the application form. Complete form and submit. Someone from the department will contact you shortly.
