Each year, the School of Liberal Arts Career Development Office hosts a variety of events specific to Liberal Arts students and also co-sponsors many of the larger career fairs on campus.

Most of these events are open to IU and Purdue alumni, and often to community members and students from other colleges and universities as well.
Local organizations and other universities also coordinate career events that IUPUI students and alumni can attend. These organizations include:
The Career Development Office uses our listserv to help you find out about these and other opportunities.
Career events at IUPUI are always open to all IUPUI students. However, sometimes business professional attire or an RSVP is required to attend the event. You can find out pertinent information like this through our listserv messages or by stopping by our office in CA243 to clarify any questions you may have about any upcoming events.
There are a few large career events held each semester at IUPUI to assist students in making connections with employers in the Indianapolis area and sometimes across Indiana, in the midwest, nationally or around the world.
Major/Career Exploration Day - an opportunity to talk with representatives and alumni from the huge variety of majors at IUPUI
Student Employment and Experience Fair - a great opportunity to find a part-time job or internship on campus or in downtown Indianapolis
Fall Career Week - dozens of information sessions and workshops all in one week allow you to explore and prepare for various career options
Etiquette Luncheon - a fun way to learn how to handle professional interactions that involve eating and drinking
Fall Break Externship Program - spend one or two days shadowing professionals in careers that interest you
NonProfit Expo (New!) - more than 50 nonprofit organizations and goverment agencies connect with students and alumni seeking careers that "make a difference"
Spring Break Externship Program - spend one to four days exploring career opportunities and organizations that interest you
‘Just In Time’ Career Fair - more than 70 employers usually attend this event which is "just in time" for graduation and summer internships
Etiquette Dinner - a delicious way to learn what to do—and not do—when you are networking or interviewing and food is involved
EMPLOYER INFORMATION SESSIONS
Employers give short presentations about their company, the industry they operate within and discuss any job or internship opportunities available.
ALUMNI AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS PANELS
Recent Liberal Arts alumni come back and speak to students about their current job, the industry they are in, and answer questions from you about what employers are looking for in an employee , how long did it take to find a job, how did their majors prepare them for the work they do, and just about anything you’d like to know.
WORKSHOPS on resumes, interviewing, preparing for a job fair, job and internship searching, and other topics help you identify your strengths and learn to showcase these in writing and when speaking about your interests and your goals. These are typically smaller groups of students, making it easier for you to ask questions specific to your situation.
ETIQUETTE LUNCH/DINNER
Each semester the IUPUI Career Services Council sponsors a Business Etiquette Dinner or Lunch (rotates each semester) for students to attend. A four-course meal is served and a guest speaker guides you through the etiquette of eating a meal while networking and interviewing for jobs and internships. These events are always “sold out” and they’re free for IUPUI students to attend (reservations are required)
