Rashid on “Navigating Student Jobs” - posted August 4, 2011

At the beginning of the Spring Semester of the year I was set to graduate I was working five jobs.  Well, let me be more specific… I was working at a job that I wasn’t in love with, so I applied to four others.  I had no idea I would get accepted to all the positions.  Mrs. Thompson encouraged me to explore each opportunity and decide after I had some experience with each position and the company/office culture.  As it turned out, after two weeks of trying each position, none of the places were really a great fit for my skills, …

Meet Rashid! - posted July 25, 2011

Hi!  My name is Rashid Owoyele and I am a Career Coach & Communication Specialist.  (I know, you’re like “Yeah, right… I know how to say that!?”  It’s not as tough as you might think… First, Ruh-sheed and *spell it out, now* O-E-L-E… AND YOU’VE GOT IT!!)  I graduated in August of 2010 with a bachelor of arts Individualized Major in Environmental Ethics & Design from the IU School of Liberal Arts, right here in Indianapolis.  My journey to IUPUI and eventually to the School of Liberal Arts Career Development Office was pretty unique but ultimately life-changing.  I was a non-traditional …
